Islander 36 Sloop

Anyone have any thoughts about an Islander 36 as a first boat for sailing primarily in SF Bay? Possible cruising down the CA coast as well.

It can be a good boat...depends on condition. There are quite a few Islanders in SF, so some one likes them.

I sailed on an Islander 36 on lake superior. Was a very nice boat and very well maintained. The owner said he had done some modifications to it because the stays attached to the deck and he had moved them to attach to the hull. It took up some space in the upper bunk but not bad.

The boat pointed very well and was very easy to sail. That boat was one of the reasons I got an Islander. The guy had a site about the modifications he did but I don't know what it was. The boats name was Andiamo or something like that.
