Sailing about Boston on Saturday we heard some sirens and commotion, after which we sailed by this sailboat...looked like her upper masts were off at the riggers. We headed off when she fired off a few broadsides, but that appeared to be in fun, as no one was shooting back.

I'm guessing that's "Old Ironsides" herself.

That is "Old Ironsides" she is currently undergoing an extensive 3 year renovation.

This is what she looks like with full rigging.

Very cool that they got her out on the water for the Fourth, even with the restoration underway. It really makes you realize how much maintenance ships like this must have needed. There she was just 12 years ago under sail, and now she's being restored again.

I hope they keep it up though. I have a soft spot for Old Ironsides...

The U.S.S. Constitution is the oldest commissioned naval vessel in the world and a great tour if you ever go to Boston.
