Inflation or ...?

About a year ago, there was a discussion re: Harken MKIV reefer/furlers here on Sailnet. The discussion convinced me that the MKIV is what I want to replace my crappy continous line Hood furler. At the time of the discussion I had new sails on order so I planned to do the furler this year.

A post on 8/5/2008 indicates that a certain retailer advertised the MKIV Unit 1 at $1359.89.

I just checked that same retailer and today almost exactly one year later the price is $1726.66.

That's an increase of almost 27% in a year!

I wonder if there will be deals if I wait for the Annapolis Boat show?

TejasSailer is on a distinguished road
The August Practical Sailor has a review of furlers, and the MkIV was "recommended," and the price listed for WM was $1918.

So the advertised price is less than list, but still a 27% increase in a year (especially this year) seems like a big BOHICA.
