What kind of boat did I buy?

Hi, I just boat a really cool sailboat, the owner said it was a columbia 29, and from what I compare to pictures on the internet of 29's, it looks the same,but the registration card I have says it is a 1973, and columbia 29 ended in 1967. Is the registration card wrong? Here is a picture, I have since move the sunbrella up, I don't knonw why the previos owner had them so low.

It is possible that the hull was built and the just sat around either in the yard or on someone's property for a few years until it was completed. That was the case with my Northstar, hull states 74 but not registered until 78. Companies would sell off bare hull/ deck combos as a kitboat when they got stuck for cash.
