When I lived and worked in San Diego I have toured that magnificent ship several times...
This is one of the historical ships that have to cherished for centuries to come.

The Star of India is so awesome! I did the tour a few months ago- I wish I could sail on her!

I'm curious about how they maintain the hull. Anyone know what ceramic epoxy is?

You see it a lot on steel and iron pipes.

Epoxy resin with ceramic powder for a copperless bottom paint

From the sublime to the ridiculous also in San Diego



The BMW Oracle multihull for the America's Cup is doing its checkout runs in San Diego. I never did see it with sail up, but that mast is pretty damn impressive without the canvas!
