Sailing Mississippi Sound

Any sailors out there who frequently sail the Mississippi Sound or the surrounding waters? What''s new? Any Nav problems? Any special places to go? Cat Island is in the process of joining the Gulf Islands Nat''l Seashore...comments?

Regarding the MS Sound, Born and raised here, best barrier island is Horn Island, off of Pascagoula. Ship Island has Fort Mass. (Pre-Civil War). Cat island previously owned by close friend, (George Boddie) is great in the fall and spring, very buggy in the summer. No real problems as far as reefs etc. Good luck and come see us at Gulfport Yacht Club.
