Marinas on Barnegat Bay

I'm considering leaving my marina on Long Beach Island New Jersey.

If I do I'd like to go north to Barnegat Bay where the water is deeper, the sailing is better and there are more on-water restaurants.

Can anyone recommend a marina or are there any marinas you'd stay away from?

I have a Catalina 30 that draws about 4 feet. We primarily day sail the southern bay from our marina now, with occasional trips out into the ocean, and we'll anchor out for a day or two now and then.

Floating docks are preferable, dockside water, power, cable. Must have clean bathrooms/showers. We're looking for a place with a laid back vibe, not the party till 3am crowd every weekend. And we'd like to find a place without a ton of dockside politics. Like I said we're looking for a laid back vibe.

I stayed at the Silver Cloud Marina on the Forked river for a few days last summer. Very nice marina with lots of sailboats, bbqs on the piers, clean restrooms and a pool. A fun water side restaurant was biking distance, as well as a pizza joint and commercial strip.

I think the guides list the forked river as a hurricane hole. It's also quite close to Barnegat inlet. I don't have any experience with any other marinas up there, but Barnegat bay did seem like it would be a fun place to keep my cat with its two foot draft.

Scott, I've heard good things about Silver Cloud and they have a fantastic service department. But they're the only place I'm familiar with in that area. I'm trying to find some other places to compare them with.

One of the advantages of where we're at now, and something that Flying Cloud doesn't have is that we can walk pretty much everywhere from the marina. Beach, lots of stores, lots of restaurants, etc.

The problem is that it's a dock-ominium. The deal fell through on the lease purchase on my slip, and given the condo-politics, I'm starting to think that might be a blessing. It's a shame our dock is pretty mellow, but you get drawn into the condo-nazi crap. I just want to sail.

I own and am selling a slip in High Bar Harbor. It is a perfect location on the North End with wonderful protected view of the Light House. Easy ocean or bay access..

The amenities are excellent.

My Condo membership is for a 45 ft slip. (J dock #28) There are other similar size slips in the Yacht Club presently on the market for mid $90K. Mine is in a very nice location with easy access.

I would be interested in leasing the space, selling it or a combination of both.

I stayed 5 years in Dillons Creek Marina on the Toms River when I lived in Ocean City, NJ. Very Nice place. Also try the state marina at Forked River

Thought I'd put a resolution on this thread. We ended up deciding on Mariner's Marina in Barnegat. Easy access to the Bay and friendly people.
