Genius Dog bid for single paw sailing record

(Press Release)
Our genius dog not yet two years old but with over 10 years human equivalent sailing experience is set to create a new record.
The record is for the single paw, under 20 lb canine division for around the world sailing unassisted.

Some people have questioned whether a dog this young and small is safe out there all by themselves on the open ocean. Emma (Bones) Slocum however is very committed to her quest.
We have signed several major sponsors such as Purina, Hertz and Hartz.

The first picture is Bones checking the roller furling unit.
The second looking out for pirates
The third is dogging the helm station.

Our maltese, now 5 years old, is a true salty dog. She has sailed over 15 thousand miles in her short life.

David,

This attempt raises serious concerns.

Let's assume for sake of argument that Emma can handle the boat, and is also current on all shots including rabies. It goes without a saying that she is spayed -- else wise I doubt she'd ever be granted free pratique in the typical sailor's port. And I guess it's safe to say she'll have no trouble standing the dog watch.

But does Emma's mother consent to this attempt? Have animal control and the SPCA weighed in yet? How far can she doggie paddle? Can she operate the can opener? Will she keep up with her obedience training while enroute? Etc etc.

I foresee much controversy surrounding this record attempt.

I learned a new word "pratique" but
I don't see what her personal life has to do with being given entry to port.

No one has even mentioned the Catalina 30.

I'll let others comment on the irony of a dog sailing a Cat.

There you go, John Pollard! Trying to suck all the fun out of a young pup's life. If her parents say she's old enough to do a single-pawed circumnav, who are you to say she can't? Why, just look at her. She's attentive at the helm, attentive on watch, keeping up with the sailing trim of her vessel. She's even wearing her PFD. How many of us are so conscientious?

I say let her go for the record. You go, Emma. Don't let that mean old man take all your fun.

What would be the point? Yes I'm against it,,but don't get me wrong. I'm sure she could do this but what would really be gained from the risk. the fame will be short lived, untill a younger pup does it. I think otheres are thinking about themselves and not this pup.

I'm sure the press will have a field day with this.

has the wife seen the post yet?

"Bones" needed a challenge after winning the surfing dog championship
Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition

What makes you think there is a wife involved. Why couldn't this be my dog? Can I help it if a genius sailing dog is a fluffy pathologically cute designer dog. A guy trying to make a buck in the younger and younger multi-species competitive solo-sailing record breaking media sodden sponsor driven world has to hire on talent whatever it looks like. Don't make me say what a you-knowwhat eats you-know-what kind of world it is.

Busted: Yes my wife saw this post. She took the pictures with a telephoto lens from the chase boat so we wouldn't brake any solo sailing record setting rules.
Sadly we are currently in litigation regarding the movie rights and custody.
