johnnyandjebus is on a distinguished road
bunk configuration on a contessa 26/ should it be altered?

Hello all

I own a contessa 26 which has the typical 1/4 berth configuration in the cabin. When sleeping on board my head faces the bow with my feet facing aft.
For off shore/extended cruising is there value in altering the layout so that my feet can extend forward(facing the bow) and my head facing aft. I can see when trying to sleep in rough weather that having my head facing the stern of the boat makes sense.

Any thoughts?

For now this is a theoretical discussion as all of my sailing is done on Lake Ontario so sleeping is limited to when the boat is anchored or docked. I ask because I was sitting aboard my boat yesterday pondering what I might do to the boat to improve it's sea worthiness for extended cruising. No immediate plans, just dreaming at this point.

Thanks,
John
