Welcome Burg and Semper FI,

You ever sailed an H18? People are telling me, and I am pretty well convinced, that the 18 is better, and more fun, in heavy air on big water.

What do you think?

As far as the fat bottomed monohull goes....right on! Aren't we all looking to be on one of those in the islands?

I am imagine winning the lotto and sailing down to the islands on a fat, fat, fat assed monohull and buying a couple of Hobies upon my arrival and sailing and giving rides and lessons and renting the Cats out on the beach and spreading the fever to others.

Thanks for your service man,

Maury

I don't why but this site just seems more like a board that sailors get together and chat about sailing.

Maybe I just didn't hit the right thread.

Maury

Sounds good. Let's have fun!

Welcome MR Wuffles,

LI = Long Island I assume? Where do you sail out there? What's the weather like? Keep sailing for me.

I wish I could get out there myself. I am too busy cutting out fiberglass pieces, and grinding on the holes in the hulls to be sailing. lol. That's fun too though. I am enjoying it more than I would have expected.

Ottos: You're right. Let's have fun!

Best Regards,

Maury

Ya Long Island I'm on the north shore and go out into northport bay which is nice and protected from swells but I still get some wind

Greetings Maury. I too caught the multi-hull bug and got a H18 this summer. This thing handles waves and the Lake Erie chop SO much nicer than the 16 -- plus it carries weight much better. I trialed both before buying and much prefer the 18. Season's kind of over -- I keep eyeing my wetsuit, but noone else is crazy enough to accompany me out there now. Probably a good thing, most days are rough.

Its prime sailing here on LI we got the autumn winds with 15 mph average every day and the water feels super warm

Welcome Lookin4freedom,

Sounds like you at least got to use your 18 for a bit. That's good. I am at the end of our season too up here in Michigan so I feel your pain. I'm with your crew on this one, I don't feel like going through the "learning curve" in 50 degree water, suit or no suit, lol.

Wuffles: It sounds like you have some awesome sailing grounds. That's fantastic that you are getting some warm air and good wind out there . Sounds like you are a smart man and are going to take advantage of it. Enjoy it. Keep us posted on your sailing exploits. I, for one, can use a vicarious source of sailing right now!

Maury

Don't have one but I love 'em! Maybe a 16 or an 18 somewhere down the line ... Can't beat the thrill.
