I have an Irwin 31' Citation, 1982 with pedestal steering. The pedestal base is breaking. Anyone with a similar problem? If so, how did you do the repair?

My Irwin has a tiller, so I can't directly help you but...

You might consider posting this message on the Irwin section of "Boat Builders Row" here at Sailnet: http://www.sailnet.com/forums/irwin/

You could also try the Yahoo Irwin group, though the URL escapes me at the moment.

Your get a new ped or base for same ped.. then take it apart! the through bolts will need replacement also. Edson used alum bolts.. mine were.. gone! While your at it it's a good Idea to reinforce floor from underneath. water gets down the ped and causes lots of problems with the laminations.
