Missing Sailor in the Gulf?

I have been hearing radio calls from the Coast Guard this week on the vhf searching for an overdue sailor named Richard Groom (or Broom, the broadcast was hard to make out). He was supposedly en route from Grand Isle, La to Key West. He departed GI around August 31. According to the CG his boat was a 1979 Venture. They didn't mention a boat name. I was just curious if anyone had heard anything else. I have searched 7th and 8th CG district public info sites, and googled to no avail. Having heard the messages for over a week i wonder about the fate of this sailor. I know being overdue is common so maybe he is just fine. I hope so.

GI to Key West isn't that far. 40+ days is not a good sign, especially in a lake/bay boat like a Venture.
