the chessy has the best rules for mooring and anchoring, stay out of channels oyester bed, cable areas and the severn river and its pretty much do as you want. the worse part is annapolis and kent county are the only ones that require permits.

there is a marina in the rhode river area that has mooring for rent, i have seen adds for them on craigslist

If you are on a mooring you will not be able to check on the boat for roughly a month in winter when the creeks that are shallow enough for moorings are frozen. Also, mooring for the winter can be pretty risky since holding on the Chesapeake is not all that great and the ice flows can come through and cut most mooring lines and simply drag off the a moored boat.

Depending on the width and draft of your tri, I may be able to let you tie up in the slipway at my home.

Is storing the boat out of the water not an option? It just seems like you would have to worry a lot less and it would be easier for you to prep the boat in the spring for your trip back home.

You might want to contact some of the members who have private docks down on the Chesapeake, rather than moorings, as moorings are going to be far more risky.

It would help if you gave more specifics about the boat, such as the draft, beam, make, model, etc.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
