Wow what a day for my new boat!

OK so I left Man. At around 8 am and got all the way to Barn. Inlet. When things went bad. I was sailing for the most part when I went aground. To make a long story short I should not have cut the channel markers and I got off by tying the top of mast off to a power boat who pulled me back into the channel by boat got to around a 40 degree angle. Needless say the experience was worth the 100$ I gave the guy. Seatow was going to charge me 540$. In the process of trying to get my boat off I spun the propeller. The same god send guy towed me into Happy Valley Marine. I bought a new prope for 50$ I am now at Barnegat Inlet right west of the light house and going to be in Atlantic City tomorrow. What a day! Dan

Live and learn!

Bet that SeaTow membership is looking like a pretty good deal right about now.

And congrats on the new boat!

Wherever we want to go, we go. That's what a ship is, you know.
It's not just a keel and hull and a deck and sails. That's what a ship needs.
But what a ship is ... is freedom.

Way to go Dan! You are making progress getting south.
You found the bottom and got off of it with some help. Definitely worth 100 bucks for the tow.
I have sailed a lot of smaller centerboard model boats where those buoy markers were just suggestions of where the channel is. In my 27' Tartan (with centerboard) we always stick to the 'big boat' routes as a sailing dinghy with a centerboard is easy to get off any shoal but a bigger boat is not. Even though you're in a Bristol 24' (?) you are in a bigger boat as the weight and hence momentum are not that of a 'smaller boat'. I forget if your boat has a centerboard or not?
BoatUS/West Marine has a membership that gives you some credit for towing which is not that expensive. It's like the AAA of the liquid world though.
Glad to hear you made it to Barnegat.
Go Dan, go!

Please get some good charts.

We use Barnegat Inlet every year and know it well. It is a trecherous inlet There are always a few sailboats who get stuck, sunk in that inlet. Some people have even lost their lives there over the years.

Gawd, I can't ever imagine transiting Barnegat inlet. I've stood on the banks near the light house watching it's never ever looked safe to me!
Dan, you found an anchorage deep enough even for your boat?
