Dream...Prepare

Dream like you'll live forever.
Prepare like you'll die tomorrow.

You want to sail around the world? You want to live the dream?

Perfect.

Now comes the preparation.

This is the crux of most sailing forum debates. The bottom line is...there's nothing wrong with the dreaming. It's what gets anyone and everyone started in this beautiful art in the first place.

But no one can argue that sailing big is not, potentially, deadly. You HAVE to prepare.

The question is...how do we let both of these stand?

What do you think?

Actually, I'm watching "Independence Day" with my kids and we're at the dramatic music part. For a moment, I thought I was Will Smith.

Forget it. Just sail your damn trashbag.

LOL. Now see what Obama is doing to you all???

That was very philosophical Smack, very deep.

I do get where you are coming from though.

I guess maybe we address the preparation, the safety and the dangers in the context of the dream?

I guess we also start to listen to those that actually know something, those that have dreamed, prepared, and then both succeeded and failed.

Those that have never ventured or attempted, but have all the answer we politely ignore.

P.S. Please don't get all political, my above statement was a JOKE. Like haha A funny thing...not serious.

You remember the sign on the 7000' level of Mt Rainer as you step onto the Muir snowfield. "......many have died........" and you go, true, also "many have not died" altho that is not what the sign says........so from this person that was told at age 15 I could not climb rainer due to a medical issue, whom has made it to the top, along with a few other mts I should not have, dream, plan, figure out the issue, and prepare to beat the issue if at all possible! then you will succeed!
