Caribbean Cruising Insurance

I am looking for insurance for my 1976 Pearson 365. I will be cruising south through the Caribbean for the next year or so. I had Boat U.S. insurance, but they only cover as far south as Turks and Caicos and I plan on cruising further south than that. Offshore Risk and Bluewater insurance both came back with quotes that were well below the quote provided by Boat U.S. but the insurance coverage would be with a European Company that had a rating of B++ or B.

Should I be concerned with those ratings? Has anyone had positive or negative experiences with an insurance company that will provide coverage further south than Turks and Caicos?

Will you be singlehanding or sailing with a partner? If you're singlehanding, insurance is much more difficult to get, and more expensive too.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Susan at IMIS is very good and ensures that you are with a legitimate company.

Bluewater, I thing, use Lemma a Ukraine based company who may be legit and are listed by the UK Financial Services Authority.

You will be more secure dealing with Susan.
