Cheap GPS

I realize this GPS debate may be more about philosophy than cost, but if you have a laptop on board you can find USB dongles for under $20. With Seaclear II freeware, the free NOAA raster chart RNC downloads, and serial emulator software for the dongle you've got a decent system that could be used as a backup in a pinch, for next to no $$.

When I was down in Belize we where out late on a boat and I asked the Captian if he used Gps he called it "Global P*ssy System".
