New use for IR engine thermometer

I found a new use for my new IR engine thermometer Actron cp7876. My wife came down with something last night and had a fever.

I noticed that if I scanned her forehead with the IR thermometer Pro and added 5 degrees I would get her medical temperature.

Cool uh.

I just got one myself. Got it thru Amazon, they had a good selection. The wife and I have been going around the boat and home checking the temp of everything...... the "Cool Tool"... it is!

Actually it was her idea. She was afraid of dying in her sleep by overheating. At the same time she didn't want me to wake her up to see if she was OK.
The idea was I could IR her forehead in the middle of the night without waking her up.
Although If I woke up from a deep sleep and saw someone painting my head with a red dot I hope my reactions would be appropriate before the brain kicked in.

LOL... Bob... the whole point of an IR non-contact thermometer is that you don't have to touch the person...sticking it where the sun don't shine would probably: A) require touching the person and B) pretty much wake the person up.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Yeah. You know that, Dawg. I know that. But what if the person with the thermometer doesn't know that? What if they want to take the temperature of mah LIVER? What if they pick up the cordless drill by mistake? Best not to chance it.

BTW, some countries are using cheap handheld IR thermometers (or fancier versions) to scan the faces of passengers as they file thru airport customs or security, looking for potential influenza carriers. Probably a smart idea. Although like David, some guy in uniform 'dotting' my forehead would probably make me dive under a table screaming. I grew up in New Yawk, ya know?
