West, BoatUS Merger

I think this merger is seriously anti-competetive and should be rejected by the anti-trust division of the govt. Does anyone else agree, and, if so, can we do anything?

simbar,
Yes I agree but I''ve been around long enough to know that money gets what money want''s and you know what we get.

I''m afraid it is neither big enough or effects enough people to gather enough votes to be of any concern.
The volume of other marine stores accross the country will show that there is still competition in the market place. It will be another rubber stamped, deal is done.

By any chance did anyone sign a contract when you got your slip or bought your boat that requires you to buy from them? If so maybe we can get them the same way they went after Microsoft.

A 72 million dollar deal these days is just a small blip on a large radar screen.

Actually what was sold was not BoatU.S. but Boat America Corp. which was the product side of the business including retail stores, catalog, and wholesale departments.
