Wind statistics

I've been trying to find info on prevailing winds in certain areas.
I found this website that looks pretty interesting.
Guess I'll spend a bit of time looking around there.

That's a cool looking site - will monitor it in my area over the next week to see how accurate/dependable it is. The forecasting seems to be very close to our local met service but the predictions go out 4 days further - very helpful for planning.

Thanks for the link.

You can download historical information from the NDBC (natl data buoy center). Here is the link for Thomas Light: NDBC Station TPLM2 Historical Data
The wind speed data may be in meters/sec though and the link above is only for 'last years data'. The current data is at: NDBC - Station TPLM2
Look for the link at the bottom of the page for 'real time data' in tabular form for the last forty-five days.

Jeff_H has a spectacular aura about Jeff_H has a spectacular aura about
There are a variety of sites that show historic data for various areas. In Annapolis I typically look at the weather station at Thomas Point Shoal Light house. NDBC - Station TPLM2

Send a message via AIM to chef2sail
we use the Patapsco, Tolchester or Francis Scott Key Bridge bouys/ stations from the NDBC for winds north of the Bay bridge or on the Patapsco

another one to check out would be www.buoyweather.com and the sister site surfline.com for sea surface and breaking wave height as well as wind/weather
