Online stores for Harken & Alike ?

Hi,

I'm in the planning process to overhaul my boat, yet I need some figures for equipment costs (mainly deck refurbishment) I have printed the whole Harken catalogue (cost me a fortune in ink) but there is nowhere any price quoted. I could contact any dealer and give a list of items to get a quote but I would prefer to just browse some internet site with extensive Harken inventory, there are so many different items to choose from. Anyone do know any such website ? (PS My boat is 25'' and equipment would fall in the midrange category as beeing referenced in the Harken catalog)

Thanks

The Sailnet store here, West Marine, Defender, Binnacle, etc. and often many local outfits (like our Steveston Marine and Hardware) have websites with product listings and prices.

Use the Harken catalogue to specify which bits you need and then browse any/all of these and other similar sites.

Harken makes very good stuff, but don't overlook the others...Garhauer Marine (go to their website) makes some very good equipment at very reasonable prices. And there are others.

Harken is good stuff and come with a price to match, Garhauer usually a better deal price wise. I'm not familiar with them but the "Barton" line of hardware sold here have good prices. First place I check for any hardware is MINNEY's marine surplus, I've gotten (rare & hard to find) $125 genny cars for $25.

Be careful that you get actual Harken parts.

I ordered some Harken parts from Mauri Pro Sailing and received knock off parts with the same part numbers, and price, as Harken but no where near Harken quality. I have both the knock off and authentic sheaves in use but will change out the knock off when I get the chance.

Of course I reported it to MPS but they were not concerned about it, so for now I'm stuck with junk.

blt2ski will become famous soon enough
If you go to an online like P-yacht, West marine, Fisheries supply and figure out the numbering system they use for harken, then once you have a list together, it is easy to get the online part cost............ ASSUMING they stock and or can/will get the part you want. I did this with my deck gear, along with spinlock stuff too.

ALso, if a WM is nearby, do not be afraid to go to the mgr if you know them reasonably well, and see if they will match or beat other prices. The local for me before they closed it in sept, the mgr was great to work with, but is in a NEW supposidly bigger and better store locally, but have not had the need to shop compare to see how things are.

Wouldn't let me PM either until after 5 posts. Ugh. So now....

MSRP pricing: Harken Yachting Equipment and Sailboat Hardware Catalog
Just hit the Search button and enter the part number.

Free mailed catalog for next year: Harken Publication Request Form

Hope this helps.
