where brave sailors go

It's all known: a ship is safe in a dock, but they are not made to be there... So what about the rest of the world? What do you think is the most difficult or dangerous area for a yachtsman to sail to?

Besides piracy spots and all that ugly stuff I think sailing cape horn still is one of the greatest challenges in every sailors life - true?

Where brave sailors go? To the coast of England during winter. ;) :D

Jan - I took a look at Hinnerk's website - and though I don't speak German, it looks like an incredible trip. Are you guy going to provide an English version of the site? I for on would love to follow along.

It looks like he's hitting just about every place I can think of that brave sailors go.

Well that was fore sure not the reason I planned the trip like I did. But first
just to keep things away from being mixed up.. Jan-Mayen is just a very small island between Greenland and Norway and that account name is just the rememberence of how this trip has developed: In the beginning, I just wanted to sail to that Jan Mayen... Hinnerk is simply my first name, so it's: one person - one trip (You are right, that might be a little confusing without the propper indtroduction by myself.:)

Actualy I do not intend to have the whole website turned to english and keeping to versions up to date is something that's a litla nasty. But the small "fact-sheet" (in the upper right corner you find the "english" link) is not the end of that story. Even if it wil be not so regular like it is on the german site, I intend to put some news and information there from time aswell. Unfortunately my written english is - due to a lack of usage - a little slow now and this might be a good idea to keep it a little more fluently in future.

No worries Hinnerk. I used Google Translate to check out your site, and it worked pretty well. I understand the hassle in keeping a multi-language site updated while you're trying to sail around the world..

I'll definitely follow your voyage. Just keep us updated here as you can.

BTW - your English is way, way better than my German....or my English.
