Sonar, Radar, chartplotters and PC based systems

Hello again, A few new questions:

1. Does forward facing sonar working in rough water on a sail boat? I have never used one?

2. How important is it to have forward facing radar on bluewater and whitewater sailing?

3. Someone told me that mounting the just above the Bimini is about as effective as mounting it up the mast because what it lacks in height it makes up for in lack of rock. True?

4. Has anyone compared various PC based software systems for sonar, radar and charplotters?

Thanks

There are lots of threads here that cover the pros and cons of where to mount your radar scanner. After you do some light research you will know what's best for you, which of course should be on the mast
