Ok people get off your bumbs and go sailing

Skiing,Bobsledding,Curiling,Ice hockey,Dogsled racing, Ice climbing, Sledding ...... What about sailing? Why the heck is it that people don't go out on a nice cool winter day with good weather/winds and enjoy the water that is if there is no ice. I mean I can't wait until the snow stops blowing so hard to get out there.. What gives...... ??

If you lived down here, deep in the heart of Texas, you could go sailing or play golf whenever you want. We don't have the obligatory four seasons. Enjoy the winter.

I do sail in winter. I was out on the 15th. Cloudy, upper 40s, gentle to moderate breeze. I hope to sail every month this winter. While I didn't get any good days off in winter '09, I sailed in january and february '08 in open boats.
You're on the Chesapeake, there should be some good days. Dress warmly and be careful.

I am jealous as we got a couple inches of snow overnight and the lakes are freezing up......

I sail in a winter race series up here. Not been particularly cold or wet so far, only had one race cancelled from very high winds, mostly been very calm. Some of us are out there and doing it!

Yes we have year-round sailing here... not quite like Florida or California... but year round just the same.

I must confess, though, that the older I get the less inclined I am to go out and get cold and wet through.....

Older and wiser!??!
