Just sold my 25” Bristol today and I am not too happy. I only had the boat for a short time but I need a bigger boat. I am looking at a Shipman 28’ right now in good shape. Thinking I am going to be buying it tomorrow. Which means I will be sailing south this winter from the cold NE again. Oh well I will keep you guys updated with pics and thanks a lot for all the help in getting me down here to Annapolis MD. A big thanks to Lapworth. If there was ever any man of his word it is him. Good for you. I bet you are a little sorry to see her go but I also bet that you got more for her then you paid.
I guess you are looking for a little more cabin space and speed (LWL). Have you considered a Tartan 27' or a larger Bristol?
Let us know if there is a boat up north (NYC area for me) that you would like someone to take a look at for you.

Man, I hope you have a careful weather eye. For example, at the entrance to NY Harbor right now (12/29 11pm est) the winds are 25-31 knots and the waves are 5-6' and the air temp is 21.5 degrees! That is not a hospitable place to be on a 28' boat! If it were me, I would be making a deal with a local yard and leave it there until spring comes. In the North East, winter is for sailing dreams, not for sailing night mares!

okay sailing south from up there is nuts with out proper gear, ie exposure suit.

why have you not looked on the bay there are lots of boats here for sale.

what is your budget? right now there are at least 5 boats over 28 for sale in craigslist from 5 to 10 k.

Shipman 28 has a LOA OF 29 feet, LWL of 21, ask Jeff what he thinks of overhangs that add up to 8 feet on a 29 foot boat.

Sorry I couldnt hang out a little longer but you move to fast. If any of you guys come across Dan he is well worth hanging out with. I wouldnt' try to talk him out of anything because he always has a plan and usually his mind is already made up. If you do come back through it would sure be nice if it was just after april 15 then I could jump on your boat with my fishing poles. Good Luck
