preparing a wood trawler to be hauled on a trailer.
I saw 'hauling companies' and thought I'd ask if any readers have advice on preparing a 35'x11'x5' 12 Ton wood trawler with a long keel to be trucked some 350 miles on a self loading trailer with keel support and individual bunks at the turn of the bilge. The boat is dried out and is due for re-fastening and re-caulking. I was planning on supporting the deck & cabin top with 2x4s Vee'd up off the keel and secured to top plates to prevent the sides from flexing and compressing on the trailer. The loose ballast is already out. I know wood boats don't like boat trailers but I'd like to hear any bracing suggestions or advice from readers who have previously moved wooden boats and had them arrive with the ribs 'intact'. Thanks in advance! S
