We left at noon. It was in the twenties for most of it, with 1-3 foot seas. I took it pretty easy on my crew, and didn't push the boat at all. Single reef in the main and a roller-reefed jib for the beam reach out of Elliott Bay.
Furled the jib for the downwind run to Edmonds. The Admiral did NOT like how the boat handled when it surfed a bit... The boat is a handful in those kind of conditions.
We ran at 6.5 knots most of the time, with short surfs up to 8.
In hindsight, I should have taken a second reef in the main, and put a bit of jib out on the whisker pole. I think the boat would have balanced better.
Then again, what I should have done is had the Admiral and Hope take the bus back, and reached back with Mark. That would have been a hoot. The boy has an iron stomach.
Anyway, thanks for the call and weather report, Marty. It was good to know what we were going to see.
