Your first sail of 2010

So where and how was yours?

1/1/10: I'm about to head out for a nice sail at 10 on Lake Travis. Not even all that hungover! I'll see if I can draw some protests from the Red Eye Regatta racers. That outta be fun.

Have you Aussies already been sailing?

Going to be a few months before I can get out. Its 2f here this morning and the windchill is -12f. Fill this thread with good first sail of 2010 stories, I am in need of that.

Less than 1/4 mile has passed under Imagine's keels in the last 18 months. That was to move her from the pier to the floating dock, so I could work on her topsides. She will only be turned around in the next couple of weeks to work on the port side.

The good news is that 2010 is her year. We will about March, sail at least 9k miles. If good fortune stays with us financially? We will sail another 5k miles. We plan on making up for the past 18 months. Everyone continue to have safe, and fun sailing. . ...........i2f

Ours will be February 13, shortly after we touch down in Marsh Harbour, when we pick up our catamaran for our week's charter in the Abacos!

We took a 15 mile cruise to downtown Seattle to watch the fireworks. We'll head back tomorrow. Weather looks to be pretty snotty, but it should be a downwind run. If it's too ugly, we'll send the Admiral and Hope back home on the bus.

Our plan was to go out on Galveston Bay today. Unfortunately, we got to Kemah and found that the sail loft that modified our sail for our new roller furler is closed until Monday. Here we sit in our slip with no head sail! Looks like we will go out on Monday.

~Sigh ...~ Wish I could be sailing, but there's ice on the canal, it's blowing pretty decently & it's 29 degrees here. My first sail, Lord willing, will be in April when I'm down on the Gulf coast at Captiva Island.

I can't wait.

I was offered a chance to go out on a boat for a lesson today, but I was up too late last night to be useful today.

Hope to go sailing sooner, but my first sail of 2010 may be when Steve (AKA SmackDaddy) and friends, sail Paloma from Corpus Christi to Freeport sometime this winter.
