Velocity Prediction Program

I am interested enough in velocity prediction program to ask for some free help - I confess not yet enough interested to wade through the books that are offered on the subject.

Does anyone know the parameters used in VPP? I assume they may be measured in the 10s - not the 100s of inputs? Sail area, LWL, weight, wetted surface area all seem likely candidates. Can anyone point to a list (hopefully on-line) of the others that may be typically used?

Also I see there is a $49 program from techsail that produces a polar plot - anyone have any experience with that program?
