Lake Champlain

Hi All,

I got my first sailboat last year, and I'm looking for an inexpensive place to keep it on Lake Champlain, VT. My uncle owns a cottage on Isle la Motte, and I've been going there my whole life. I love the area.

Anyone have any recommendations? I'd like to keep it in the Burlington / Mallett's Bay vicinity, but really anywhere around there is fine.

Hi!,

I too just started sailing on Lake Champlain 2 years ago. I'm in Monty's Bay. What I did and what I recommend doing is buying a cruising guide to the area. It had listed all the marinas (for keeping the boat) as well as all the anchorages along with notes etc. Really helped me out. Unfortunately my guidebook met an untimely fate with water damage, but they're not too expensive and will help out.

Hi,

I think the cheapest marina on Lake Champlain is Monty Bay (just across Isle Lamothe). The marinas in the south portion of the lake (Burlington) are more expensive.

In Mallets Bay, you can try to contact Hazelett Marine (search the web. It is not a formal marina, but I think they rent a couple of moorings in Malletts Bay for a very low price.

Cheers
