In Clement's own words; "I told God that I would believe in Him until my last breath" and "By the grace of God I found the life raft". It sounds to me that God was listening.
I know that nowadays it's politically incorrect, in some circles, to express a belief in God. However, when you listen to Clement's story (his manually activated EPIRB was mounted backwards and never should have been triggered and his bumping into a life raft when visability was almost nonexistent) you have to take pause and consider that perhaps it was devine intervention that saved his life.
I am reminded of the old saying that "There are no athiests in a fox hole". Perhaps the same could be said of sailors in distress.
