Could've sailed today...

Except that I'm iced in, solid.

2 days of 50's and 40 degree temps. My boat's in a nice, liquid pool but it's still too thick to push out beyond 10 feet.

So I hoisted my kid to the top of the mast in my new bosun's chair, scaring the crap out of her instead. I'm a one-man press gang.

And yet, I sailed friday, hundreds of miles north of you. (Ouch, sorry)
Too many rivers in the Chesapeake cause all that ice. You're probably berthed in a river.
What you need is a trailer boat that can get to saltwater.
Dream of spring. (I am)

sailing yesterday

We could have sailed yesterday on my boat near Solomons, I am free of ice. But the wife and I went to the Poconos with some friends. I should have stayed home though. My friend says " hey let's try snowboarding, it can't be hard. Look at all the kids doing it". He broke his arm before we made it to the ski lift.Bubble next warm day we will be sailing! I will holler at you and see if you want to go!

River? I'm in a tiny cove, off of a creek. The water is shallow and brackish so yeah, it's conducive to icing. I'm new to the area. My neighbors say it's pretty bad this year. They've only seen it thick enough to walk on one time, thank goodness.

Hey, it's just nature's way of telling me to keep repairing, keep preparing. That way I, and the boat will be in peak form when Spring finally does arrive.

Lapworth and Dan, we'll get it together soon I hope. Sounds like it'll be a good time.

Even in saltwater, at least twice (in other years) I've been frozen in so tight that I could jump onto the ice without concern. So tight that the boat didn't even bob when I stepped aboard.
