Mast questions for a new sailor

I have a 1969 Cal 34. I am getting ready to take the mast down for some work. I was told when I bought the boat that the mast was steped on the Keel. In preparing for the work, I stared looking and can't find where the mast comes through the main cabin. I am starting to believe that it is steped on the deck. Can anyone let me know which is correct.

Thanks,

PAT

Every Cal 34 on Yachtworld.com seems to have a wooden compression post, so I'd say you were misinformed and appear to have a deck-stepped mast.

Thank you very much. I did not think much about it until I started looking at pulling it and taking the mast down.
