semi permanent mooring

i am thinking of installing a semi permanent mooring in a fairly protected creek with a reasonable current. any thoughts on using two 60 lb cqrs with a 3:1 scope for a 30 ft sailboat. i would set the anchors a bit wider than 45 degrees apart.....

It would probably be cheaper just to use a screw anchor or a big ole shroom.

I wouldn't use a CQR, even two 60 lb ones.. you're much better off using a mushroom anchor of significant weight, which is specifically designed for the purpose. Better yet, a helical screw mooring would be even more secure.

BTW, how heavy a boat do you have. There is a fairly wide range of displacements for 30' boats.

If you do have to use standard anchors, I would suggest three large danforths, rather than CQRs. Danforths have great holding power, more so for the weight than do CQRs and if you have three of them in a y-shaped layout at 120˚ from each other, the load will generally be split between two of them and none of them will be subjected to much in the way of twisting loads that can cause them to unseat.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
