any comments on the CDI Asym Furler. I am looking at one for an Irwin 30 and would like to know if there are any tips.

CDI asymmetrical spinnaker furling system reviews

I would also like to hear from anybody who has used the CDI asymmetrical spinnaker furling system (http://www.sailcdi.com/Spinnakerfurler.htm). I'm hoping to buy one pretty soon along with a asym. sail to go with it. I need user advice and info before purchasing.
thank you

A friend bought one for his Catalina 30 and tried to set it up with a removable sprit. We could not get the continuous furling line to stay on the drum. The issue is that the drum is open, no cage or line restraint. It might be easier without a sprit. We did not get very good product support.

I have seen the Roll-Gen and think it is a much better product. Of course it's about twice the price.

I built one for my Ericson 27 using an old continuous line Sail Spar furler. After some fiddling it works well. I fabricated a removable sprit and fly the spinnaker off of that. At the slip set up the sprit and hoist the furled spinnaker. It is then available when ever needed. I find I use the spinnaker more than I should with this setup , it's too easy :-).

Wish I had a better experience with the CDI.

I'd recommend the Schaefer instead of the CDI. Not a big fan of the CDI gear, especially for boats over 26' LOA.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
