I wish ... actually I don't think the "rent house for olympics/make fortune" scheme actually worked out for very many.. Vancouver put a permit/tax system in place, and when it comes down to it would you let strangers live in your home with no supervision???

We did head down for the two weeks, put on almost 300 nm; a trip report will be forthcoming soon.

No joke, there are hundreds of dollars worth of goodies there. I would say she qualifies for the law of finds.

How come you didn't take a photo of the transom with the name on it? Maybe someone on here knows the boat, the owner, the story?

Actually I thought I had taken such a photo, but apparently did not. Should have, you're right about that. Still, with the distinctive red mast and interior design I suspect someone may recognize it just the same.

The rumour mill also had it that the local authorities had forbidden salvaging, but not sure that would stop too many people.

Those pics, especially the first and last, just break my heart. Man, I'd love to know the story behind this. Somebody ransacked the interior very well.

I think most of the interior 'ransacking' was done as she was thrown about on the edge of the reef before being driven over and on to it, where she's now quite stable (minimal tide range here of only a foot or so) Still the next serious storm is going to drive her further in and to bits.

A tank had been cut open - (visible in the interior pic) There was no smell of fuel anywhere nor (thankfully) any evidence of a fuel slick anywhere so perhaps the fuel was taken off and/or the tank checked for drugs.

Wow, that's crazy. Is that boat finished then? No way to fix it up?
