Island hoppers today (pics)

While in Les Saintes recently the harbour was quite busy, a lot of charterers of course, that were mainly Beneteaus/Moorings, several Bavarias and plenty of cruising cats of all descriptions. Mostly French and US flags, but a good Canadian contingent too, as well as other Europeans. We saw a couple of Hunters too. A surprisingly common boat, esp in Antigua, seems to be the 50-ish foot Oysters. Here's a cross section of the other types of boats we ran across:

The French love their hard chined steel boats, this one an unusual equal - height Schooner rig..

A little Deerfoot/Sundeer anyone?

Not sure what this one is:

Here's a slick looking number

Ahh... the good old mizzen riding sail:

Here's a couple of "Abominations" (IMO)

A Hylas???

Interesting...

Something called a "TOR 12.5"?

A Canadian, BC based Saga 35 - a hurricane salvage bought at auction in Florida:

This seemingly local 30-something Keel/centerboarder hasn't moved in a while.

This tasty Swan 60 something... nice

Here's one for Sailing Dog:

And finally our ride, a fun-to-sail, easily driven, low luxury Beneteau 36.7

Fast,

The weird looking pilot house is a Dufour Atoll...ugly sucker ain't it ?

1999 Dufour Atoll Atoll pilot house 43 Sail New and Used Boats

The yellow thing is a Van de Stadt...probably a Norman or a Caribbean. Basically a 40' big sister to Raven but with a hard dodger.

May not be everyone's cup of tea but man I love the look of those Deerfoot/Sundeer whatever the fluck it was. So to hell with a collection to send you back to the Caribbean, what we really need is collection to buy me a Sundeer........

Any idea what the name of this beastie is or what it is? It looks like a Newick design, but with the angle of the photo, it is hard to really tell...

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Can you imagine being on shore talking to other boaters when they ask "so, which boat out there is yours?"

"The yellow one."

Here's another view....

"Ocean Surfer?" maybe, or just "Ocean Sur"? Actually fairly unusual for a racing tri in that both amas are immersed at rest...

Here's a link... if the same one looks like the doghouse was added later:
