Not by Cape Horn standards, no. But waves in the Med tend to have a more square shape to them. More like walls than rollers. And they tend to be more tightly spaced.

If it battered a large cruise ship that badly, it must have packed a wallop. The article says it was three in succession.

i am a firm believer the bigger ships are more prone to damage than smaller ships on the same wave, if they are not breaking waves.

i have seen vids of 50 foot waves that a 30 something fishing boat just went over and a 100 foot boat rolled about 60 degrees on, neither where broad side. the big ship had air under its keel but was touching at each end. its kind of like 4 wheeling with a short wheel base vrs a long wheel base
