Got a strange email today

From a guy I don't know with an AOL account. The subject was "Regarding your boat," and the message was "What do you want for your boat?"

This is the strangest spam I've ever gotten. It came to my yahoo mail account. What on Earth would prompt a person to send out such a useless spam? It didn't even have a link where a stupid person could click and give themselves a virus.

And if anyone is wondering: no, my boat is not up for sale.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Ahh gee not for sale eh? Thats too bad because I was going to pay over market value, I could send you a bankers check to cover it. The check might be a little over the agreed value but you can just send me back the difference via money order.....but if you are not interested in making much profit quickly.....

I'd be tempted to reply "a couple of 12 pounder cannons would be wonderful." and see if it gets me anything.
Seriously, I'm getting a lot of swell spam from chinese accounts, to the point that I'm almost starting to wish them an earthquake (sorry, that's not nice, but I'm getting over-spammed to the tune of 20+ per day).

Maybe a Nigerian Prince is interested in your boat?

Your ISP needs a better spam filtering setup.... or your e-mail program does.

You should've said "Some new winch handles, maybe a mainsail cover. Do you have those?"
