Ugh.. I'm really not looking forward to these bugs.. I've not yet had the joy of meeting one, and to be honest I hope I don't. It's enough to know they exist.

Grow up to 2 inches!?! I guarantee you that I have seen ones that were bigger than that!

Yes, hang around Florida long enough and you are sure to eventually see one. I live on Palmetto Bend Drive. My wife and I (semi-)jokingly refer to it as Palmetto Bug Drive.

Oh yeah, 2.5"- 3" at least. There was a mole in my front yard when it was raining last week that was wearing chaps and had a saddle on one.
