I have a pretty good library of Nav. Books that I have here at the school where I teach. Those books are mine but for the Bowditch, but then I have my own at home along with a couple of others. What I have at home are necessary from my point of view, but didn't list them. The books are as follows:

Dutton's
Formulae for Mariners
Chapman
Boater's Bowditch
Ship Master's Hand Book on Ship's Business
American Merchant Seaman's Manual
Merchant Marine Officer's Handbook
Stability and Trim for ship's officers
Piloting & Dead Reckioning
Rules of the Road
One Minute Guid to Nautical Rules of the Road
Modern Towing
Ocean Passages for the World

As you can see by the titles that my Reference materials are more for the Professional then the Amateur. But then again I do enjoy a busman's holiday.
But when I have to prove a point in question, I know which book to reach for.

Now what books are residing in your library??

It's good to see Boater's Bowditch on that list Boasun. It's an excellent book.

I'd add to your nice list:

Farwell's Rules of the Nautical Road
Jimmy Cornell's World Cruising Routes
and the Coastal Pilot for whatever region you're in.

Commander ES Parker - A Guide to the Collision regulations
Bob Bond - The Handbook of Sailing
Jim Murrant - The Boating Bible
John Rousamaniere - The Annapolis Book of Seamanship
Chapman
Bowditch
Tom Whidden - The Art and Science of Sails
Saunders - Small Craft Piloting and Coastal Navigation
Environment Canada - Marine Weather Hazards Manual (West Coast)
Owen Lange - The Wind Came All ways
Charles Low - Boat Docking

I would add Chart # 1 to the list....

I'll be damned if I can remember what all those symbols mean.
So Chart # 1 and the rules are always at the nav station.

I have many of the others mentioned and more..but from the lists above, it looks like I don't have em all..

For teaching nav to beginners I like Mike Pyzels book..it's a pretty straighforward..and easily followed guide.

I also like Reeds Nautical Companion and John Neals Offshore Cruising Companion...both are good quick reference guides..easily carried.

For sure.

That sounds like a call for a new quiz.
