Around Alone

The Around Alone race is closing on Cape Horn at this time and the boats are close together. Accounts of this race have been facinating. Great Lakes sailor Tim Kent on Everest Horizontal has been running a solid 2nd in his class with a poorly funded campaign. Take a few nights to check this race out at http://aroundalone.com This is great reading for cruisers and racers.

I agree, this is the true sailboat racing going on at the moment. This is the race for those who aren''t billionaires, and to me it''s kind of sad to see it receive so little publicity or attention. I receive Tim Kent''s emails about three or four times a week, and find them fascinating. If you haven''t been following the race, you owe it to yourself to get interested. Imagine being on your own in the southern ocean with little possibility of help if something goes wrong, you depend upon your own skills and abilities. What a great race!
