Last known exact location/SPOT check: St. Martin - Latitude:18.10853, Longitude:-63.05867

Please respond here with pertinent information leading to the location of this sailor. Questions can also be directed to the member stardust0406.

Brian

PS I am going to merge the other threads to this one to make it easier to follow and have al the info in one place.

A report on s/v Far Star and her captain Kennedy McLeod would be much appreciated. Contact via e-mail and SPOT has lagged and I am looking for an update from anyone in the Southern Caribbean. He last reported he was leaving St. Martin for St. Eustatius and then to St. Kitts. He has also been traveling with another vessel s/v Emerald Seas.

The trip from St. Martin to both destinations is a daysail. But internet connectivity is spotty (at best) in St. Eustatius and St. Kitts so the normal next destination is in Antigua (yet another daysail). How long has it been since the boat departed?

6 days no word

We have not heard from him in 6 days. He was supposed to meet up with another vessel on St. Kitts, but never arrived. We also never got confirmation that he left St. Martin, as he SPOT checks us when he changes locations. If you have radio contact please send out a call for Far Star and Emerald Seas. I am also concerned because he has Winlink and should be able to send e-mail even without wi-fi.

stardust0406,

have you logged into the cruiser's forum (http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums)? On of the moderators, hud3, lives on Nevis and might be able to send a VHF out. I've forwarded you request to some friends of mine who should still be in St. Martin to ask them to try to contact the vessel via VHF. Do you know if he was on the French or Dutch side - you can call up the appropriate immigration office to find out if the boat has cleared out yet and, if so, what the intended destination might have been.

Thank you for the info! I am not sure if he was on the French or Dutch, I am contacting the immigration office now. Thank you again, I feel that the more I can get the word out to sailers who are actually in the area the better!

I've sent a PM to a new member RumPirate - located in Nevis/St. Kitts.

Perhaps he'll be able to help.

Spotted the post and contacted a friend that runs a charter boat in St.Maarten.

He has promised to keep a look out.

I have also emailed my friends in the boating fraternity here.

On another matter (could it be related?) a 34' Mainship power boat

'INTERMEZZO'

V4215JB registration number

Single Perkins inboard engine

White Hull

Blue Awning

Maximum speed 12 knots so she cant be far. [ Now over 500 mile radius]

was stolen sometime after 20:00 19 March 2010 from Oualie Bay in Nevis.

UPDATE

Authorities in St.Maarten and St.Eustatius contacted and requested to advise on status of vessel checking in and out.

St.Kitts & Nevis Coast Guard advised.
