Autohelm ?

Any thoughts on using an Autohelm 1000 on a 12,000# boat. I am most intrested in using it while I get the sails up and set, and when taking down

I''ve been looking at the, 1000, recently and it is only rated up to a 5900# dis. You might get it to steer long enough to get the sails up, but I doubt it would steer once you clear the marina. Something is gonna break.[hee-hee]

Thanks. That''s about all I am looking for at this time. I will buy one that is rated for our boat when the budget allows.
