Autohelm 2000

Would it be possible to use a new drive unit from an x-5 tiller autopilot on my old autohelm 2000? After all it is just two wires sending port and starboard commands. Thoughts? You can't find the old drive units anymore.
Thanks,
Coldnose

I think that it will work, but I am not certain. What is wrong with the old drive?

Burnt Motor

Thanks for the reply. The motor is fried. I had 2 units and had a gear go bad on the other one. Used the 2 to make 1 good one. Would like to have a back up though.

Try emailing Raymarine support via their website. I've had good luck getting some support for my ST1000 tiller pilot although it's out of production.
