Destructive 12 meter Ice Wall

I'll admit that I've never heard of a moving ice wave before, but the pictures in this thread are pretty revealing:

That's amazing. I suspect an engineer is losing his job. "trust me, I know what I'm doing"

Ouch... brings a new meaning to "on the rocks" when dealing with boats and ice.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Lake St Clair (over 25 sq mi) dropped 3' due to an 11 mile long ice jam at the head of the St Clair River on Lake Huron. 5 CG cutters have been working for over a month keeping the ice jam to a minimum. The ice was reported to be all the way to the bottom of the river, something between 40' and 80' deep depending on where it was. Water came up 2' over the weekend after a lot of it cleared.

I have seen ice pile up to the locks of the Alton Dam in Ilillinois. There's a road that follows the river. In the middle of the Mississippi River that ice was much taller than the river road was high. Mother Nature is one powerful lady.......i2f
