$616.79 and the boat isn't even home yet!
Jeesh there is alot of stuff needed before you can even own your boat. Trailer tires, hitch, ball, straps, wiring harness, etc.... I know i'll have to re-wire the trailer too. I'm planning on just spending money on her this summer! Might actually sail, depends if I have any money left for gas...

I was looking through our folder of receipts that we're keeping for this boat. It should be interesting to see what it looks like a year from now.

I agree with smack. The $/hr calculation for sailing is not pretty... but gets better with every minute that you sail.

You probably don't want to look at your receipts all that closely, especially during the first year of ownership, when many long-term capital costs are incurred...

Well, thankfully Butyl tape is cheap and elbow grease is free - well, besides the beer that usually accompanies it!

I see myself having a great time in the driveway for a month or two...

Just get her on the water as fast as you can. Even if she's bare bones and still needs a lot of work - get her out. That will keep you motivated.

Boat Dollars
As any experienced boater will tell you, including those that go out in the stink pots, a Boat Dollar is a One Hundred Dollar Bill and it takes quite a few of them to enjoy the real pleasures of sailing. But it's worth every "dollar" of it!

Depends on the size of the boat... bigger boats = bigger boat dollars....
