Yes... they're pretty good from my experience. But it varies by region.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Socal

I'm preparing for the Newport to Ensenada race this Friday. In the Southern California Bight winds are predominently calm in the morning, then W or NW at 10-15 in the afternoon, then calm again at night. There's a pretty good blow coming through as we head up for the race, so I'm wondering how they do when it's getting snotty. I've been tracking their forecast that was in place on Saturday and in the light conditions we see day-to-day they do pretty well.

Are you sailing the Jeanneau? or on another boat?

As far as sailflow, works reasonably well here in Puget sound. Altho I try to use a few options personally.

Yep

Sailing a Jeaneau 36i. Looks like it will pretty snotty getting up to Newport Beach, then light and variable for the race.

I'll second Marty's opinion for PNW area. wind forecasting does seem to be difficult.

Part of the problem here in pugetsound, is the olympics, along with the PS convergence zone, and some of the forecasts cover a MUCH bigger area than they should for what could go on. So while I do like sailflow, I will use other weather forecasts to try and help me with what could or could not happen.

CG,
Do you post on the jeanneau-owners forums? a number of others with 36i and 36iP's are out racing. There is a small discussion on the IRC ratings for your boat. Altho you probably race PHRF I will swag.
