Check for your local Sailing Examiner
Just in case you weren't aware, and I don't want to come across as just blatently advertising...... Examiner.com has editions in about 70 markets, and in most of them you may find a person who has signed up to write specifically about sailing in the community. I am the sailing examiner in Harrisburg, PA, of which I'm covering the Northern Chesapeake, where I sail, as well as the Susquehanna River and lakes around the area. There is an Examiner, named Terry, for Baltimore, and she covers the meat of the Bay.
I know I'm not in it for the money, but it is a pay per click type scenario, sort of like About.com.
I think it's great though, as local people that are interested in the topic of choice gets to spread the word, in my case, sailing. My first few articles are pretty generic, aimed at people new to the hobby/lifestyle, or who have been thinking about trying it out, but not sure how to approach it. I love turning people on to Sailing, even just boating in general, the more the Merrier!
As I progress, both as a writer, and a sailor, I look to learn alot about other aspects of sailing, other than my comfort zone of cruising the upper bay!
I was going to put a link here, but I'll just say that you can google the Harrisburg or Baltimore Sailing Examiner and you should find it just fine!
If you subscribe to me, or just stop by, send me a note and let me know what you think, and if you have any story idea's, by all means, drop me a line
THanks Ya'll
