Storage of cooking fuel

Where should denatured alcohol for use as fuel in my Origo stove be stored? I'm assuming because it it's flamable (obviously) and has fumes that it should be stored on deck. Is that correct? I was thinking of pouring it into a new plastic gasoline container (1 gal) and lashing it to a stanchion base on deck.

I know that propane should not be stored below decks without a proper propane locker. I'm planning on storing the small Coleman-style propane canisters for our Magma grill in the dinghy behind the mothership on our cruise this summer. Does that sound reasonable? I know they make a canvas storage bag that hangs on the stern rail, but our rail space is all occupied with our lifering and outboard bracket.

in the anchor locker works for me.. plus it also has a drain so fumes would vent out the bottom.
